Cancer is a group of diseases in which some of the body's cells grow uncontrollably and can spread to other parts of the body.
Causes
Cancer arises when changes (mutations) in a cell's DNA cause it to divide without control. Risk factors include tobacco, certain infections, radiation, unhealthy diet and inherited genes.
Treatment
Common treatments include surgery, chemotherapy, radiation therapy and newer targeted and immune therapies. Early detection improves the chance of cure.
