Philosophy
Gandhi developed the principle of satyagraha, non-violent resistance based on truth. He believed that peaceful civil disobedience was more powerful than force.
Independence movement
He led mass campaigns including the Non-Cooperation Movement, the 1930 Salt March and the Quit India Movement of 1942. His methods united millions of Indians across religion and class.
Legacy
Called the "Father of the Nation" in India, Gandhi inspired civil-rights movements worldwide, including that of Martin Luther King Jr. He was assassinated in 1948.
